Fall racing starts at Del Mar on Friday, kicking off the fifth season of Thoroughbred racing in Southern California. With a successful summer meet under their belt, Del Mar is looking forward to another great fall meet.
Friday also kicks off the fall schedule with the $75,000 Kathryn Crosby Stakes. Look for a field of 12 to take to Jimmy Durante Turf Course. Currently Gary Barber's WAY TO VERSAILLES is the favorite of the field.
Saturday will feature the Let It Ride Stakes, also valued at $75,000 for three year olds over the mile turf course. Watch of the favorite PRINCE EARL to defend his undefeated record.
Every weekend this month will feature stakes races with the purse value increasing towards the end of the meet.
Post time throughout the meet is 12:30 pm, except for Thanksgiving weekend when it is 11am. Patrons will have 17 ways to wager during the Fall Racing Festival meet including your traditional win, place and show bets, as well as popular exotic wagers that include as many as five and six horse combinations. Del Mar boasts the largest pools in their Pick Four and Pick Five multiple horse bets. Last fall, the field sizes averaged 8.5 horses per race and overall Del Mar's all-sources handle for 2017 was the best of any of the four seasons held so far.
Opening weekend also includes Del Mar's Veteran's Day celebration.
Have a great weekend!
