Oaklawn Park has announced today that they will expand their facilities in Hot Springs, Arkansas with a new on-site hotel and event center. This will allow larger regional events and conferences in the Hot Springs area. Oaklawn is the number one income generator in the community and the project will cost $100 million. The spring racing meet has also had three weeks added to the schedule to allow for racing on Kentucky Derby weekend. The project will break ground the following Monday, May 6th. Completion is scheduled for January 2020.
Designed to be a four star hotel, the hotel will consist of seven stories and 200 rooms including two Presidential suites. Half of the hotel rooms will have view of the track. The other half of the rooms will overlook the mountains and lake to the south. The hotel will also feature an outdoor pool with cabanas and an event lawn for weddings and meeting space. It will also include a multi-purpose event center, meeting rooms, fitness center and luxury spa. New restaurants and a food court will be added to the expanded gaming area, as well as new bar and patio areas.
The multi-purpose event center will accommodate up to 1500 for concerts and meetings. The idea is that the event center will complement the local convention center. The parking lot will be redesigned to allow for additional gaming space with valet drop off.
Have a great week!
