We give thanks and lift up all those who gave their lives serving; from the revolutionaries who pledged their lives, fortunes and honor; to slaves who sacrificed so generations they would never know would be equal with the God-given right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness; to the greatest generation who showed courage beyond the mind's bounds at places like Guadalcanal and Normandy; to those who took the fight to those who brought terror to our shores.
Our hope is that we take a second to put our differences aside, reflect on those who made the ultimate sacrifice and pray that they have the grace of God.
And this Memorial Day will be like no other in our lifetime thanks to the coronavirus: a war of a different sort. To the too many who have lost loved ones due to this godforsaken virus, we wish we could hug and comfort you as you remember your family and friends who went home.
Of course, we know that's not the purpose of Memorial Day, but no doubt millions will see this Memorial Day in a different way.
Honestly, horse racing seems so small after writing that.
I hope that what we do here provides a ray of joy for all. Moments where no matter what's happing in our lives, we can smile and feel good. Obviously, winning feels a lot better, but living in a country where we have enough to bet on horses… that should be enough to be grateful for those who gave their lives to make it possible.
Perhaps, we can find a winner today. If we do, kindly consider donating a portion of the proceeds to a charity that supports families of deceased or wounded soldiers.

Jockey Joel Rosario gets off our second pick to ride ETOILE, there must be a reason why. OLLIE'S CANDY is making her third start after a layoff. Her history says round three is the best effort in the cycle. LADY PRANCEALOT has hit the board in six of eight at Santa Anita and three of three at the distance. KEEPER OF THE STARS tied for the highest, last race speed figure; a recent bullet workout says she remains sharp.
